Gillard up to Her Neck in Waste

Julia Gillard stood right behind Kevin Rudd on every one of Labor’s reckless and wasteful spending decisions over the past 3 years, like GROCERYchoice, FUELwatch, the 2020 Summit, stimulus advertising and tax bonus payments – to name just a few.

Julia Gillard is just as responsible for Labor’s billions of dollars in waste as the former PM. Shadow Education Minister Christopher Pyne noted that as Education and Workplace Relations Minister, Julia Gillard has presided over some of the biggest examples of waste in Australia’s history, including:

Building the Education Revolution

“the greatest single waste in the nation’s history” (The Australian, May 29 2010). Julia Gillard spent $16.2 billion on the BER, including a $1.7 billiion blowout and up to $8 billion in waste through mismanagement, gouging and state government substitution.

And don’t forget the millions of dollars spent on BER signage and plaques commemorating Julia Gillard herself! If elected, the Coalition will ensure funding goes directly to schools, ensuring better value for money.

Computers in Schools

Labor promised 970,000 laptops in schools befor the last election but have delivered just 300,000 and the program blew-out by $1.2 billion. Who was in charge? Julia Gillard. Gillard also failed to deliver he broadband hook up that was promised for schools as part of the 2007 election campaign.

Trade Training Centres

Julia Gillard abolished the Australian Technical Colleges in favor of Trade Training Centres. After promising 2650 centres, Gillard has delivered just 13.

Child Care Centres

Julia Gillard is responsible for delivering just 38 out of 260 Child Care Centres promised by Labor in 2007 as part of their commitment to “end the dreaded double drop off”. But you wouldn’t know it as junior Minister Kate Ellis was sent to do the press conference.

Just like Kevin Rudd, Julia Gillard uses junior ministers to put out the trash and take the blame. And since becoming PM, she hasn’t missed a beat – already spending thousands of taxpayers dollars taking a RAAF luxury jet to attend a Labor Party fund-raiser in Kevin Rudd’s home town. All this while Labor continues to borrow $4 million every hour of every day to fund their spending spree! Deputy Coalition Leader Julie Bishop said “Julia Gillard will be remembered as the most wasteful Minister in Australian political history.” Now she’s running the country.

    I’d just like to say thankyou for providing such an informative site.
    I’m up to my neck with hard core Labor supporters seemingly everywhere (Are there any other kind?) who, even though Gillard and Rudd just had another election between them, are demanding I show them where Labor is going wrong.
    It would be quite amusing, if it wasn’t so disturbing to know that our once great nation appears to have   voters on it’s hands who, regardless of what the Labor party does, will still be ticking the Labor box come next election. Very disturbing indeed.
