Another Multi-Million Dollar Blow-Out in Pink Batts Scandal
Media Release – Greg Hunt MP
The Government’s pink batts fiasco is costing Australian taxpayers even more money with a multi-billion dollar blow-out in the cost of fixing the mess.
A document released on the Government’s website for tenders reveals the original contract for work has increased from $26 million to $124 million.
This is a staggering example of waste and mismanagement by the Labor Government.
They bungled the program and now Australian taxpayers are left with the ever increasing bill to fix the mess and ensure people’s homes are safe, so more lives and property are not at risk.
We also need an assurance from the Government that the proper tender process has been undertaken which has seen the original contract increase by $98 million.
The full details must be revealed including what is hidden in the secrecy clauses of the contract.
The Australian people have a right to know the full extent of how much this Government fiasco has cost them.
The pink batts scandal is further evidence of why Labor cannot be trusted with a Carbon Tax.
If they can’t put pink batts in people’s roofs, how can they manage a $105 billion Carbon Tax?
